About Harry Tuttle | MCD

Blue Brain, Harry Tuttle, Modern Cave Dweller, Science Fiction, author

Reads. Writes. Thinks.

This is the home and playground of Harry Tuttle, the Modern Cave Dweller; Part enigma, part machine, mostly confused and trapped in modern life.

I am a Science Fiction writer. I am also a scientist, so  I can say that I write Science Fact. Simply put,

I’m a writer.

If you are lucky enough to be reading this, then you are at ground zero. I currently have a pile of flash fiction and several short stories that will be released into the wild shortly. I am also working on my first novel. If you want to know what is going on with any of this and what I’m thinking, follow me here, on any of the social media listed on the right, or sign up for the newsletter.

Who is Harry Tuttle?
This is a pseudonym to avoid confusion with my professional persona. As a scientist I have over 50 publications and am involved in science policy. I’d like to keep the two worlds separate for the moment.

Why the Blue Brain?
I would love to have one of those beautiful photos to share with you all, but that would defeat the point of using a pseudonym.

Why The Modern Cave Dweller?
The MCD is a long standing joke/statement about how I see myself in the modern world. If you search for Harry Tuttle MCD you also avoid confusing me with other Harry Tuttles.

Why Harry Tuttle?
Why? I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there’s trouble, a man alone. Yes, Terry Gilliam’s Brazil is synonymous with this famous character, but the Tuttle name has a long history in film and TV, usually as a mysterious, enigmatic, character, including appearances in MASH, although quite often, only as cameos.
